There are a large number of pension cases pending disposal for want of clarifications/replies from  departments/ Pension Sanctioning Authorities  to the objections raised at the time of issuing Pension Verification Report/ Pension Payment Order.  With a view to settle such cases expeditiously through interaction with the Departmental officers, a proposal was made to the Government to conduct Pension Adalats at District Collectorates.  Consequently the Government of Andhra Pradesh has accepted the proposal of the Principal Accountant General (A&E) to conduct meetings in the distrcits in the name of  'Pension Committee for Settlement of Outstanding Cases' with the Deputy Accountant General(Pensions) as the Chair Person along with members selected by the Chairperson.

 

The objective of the committee is to review and discuss the pending cases with the authorities concerned, examine and listen to the grievances of the pensioners and guide the departmental authorities in expediting the replies to the points/queries so that the pending pension cases could be settled either fully or partly at the earliest possible say within a week or fortnight of the completion of meeting or submission of the requisite documents by the departmental officers.

 

These meetings are held at the office of the district Collectorates on the dates fixed by the Principal Accountant General in consultation with Finance dept. and district Collector. A list of pending cases in the district will be forwarded to the departments through district Collector well in advance.  The District Collectors will fix the venue, invite all the departmental authorities concerned and give wide publicity through press for the benefit of pensioners.   A responsible officer nominated by the district Collector will also attend the meeting.

 

 

The first meeting was held on 25-9-2003 at Kurnool.   So far 40 meetings have been conducted and the response  has been  phenomenal.  The  latest  meeting was  held on 24-02-2011 in the Collectorate of Vizianagaram District.
